Igor (from Fuse) did an outstanding job resolving our HVAC issue. He was prompt and communicative, finding the root of the problem. Another company had been by previously and failed to diagnose the fault, whereas Igor figured it out in no time. He was able to find the Freon leak, repair the break, and then recharge the gas: all done in an afternoon. He also took the time to inspect our other unit for similar issues. Called about an issue we were having with the power at our location. Tech was scheduled and arrived on time. He also sent a text that when was en route. He found the issue and went to Home Depot to purchase a light fixture then installed it. This company is reliable and pricing was reasonable for the repairs that were done. Update after installation: Installation only took one day, and was only for the heat pump water heater. (We'll replace the radiant heat boiler at a later date.) The Fuse project manager (Teo Pyndus-Pastukh) was knowledgeable and responsive, and the installers (Sergei M. and another man) worked quietly and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. It would have been helpful to have more information up-front about how long we would be without hot water during the installation (6 hours), how long it would be before we had hot water again after the installation (no delay), and how long the electricity would be off (it wasn't). It was also a surprise that there was no outside unit (the heat pump was in the water heater itself), and that a wifi app was required. None of those was explained before installation (so I'm keeping my rating at 4 stars). Original post: Heat pump installation takes A WEEK, and you'll be without (radiant) heat and hot water during that time. (I wanted to put that as the first sentence so readers will see it.) The 4 stars are for Teo Pyndus-Pastukh who came out to do the site inspection, was very thorough, was patient with our myriad questions, and gave us confidence in the system. HOWEVER, the install time wasn't mentioned and wasn't in any of the program info (from City of Palo Alto Utilities), and only after Teo's visit did we learn that installation takes a week and we won't have heat or hot water during that time. (I may be back with an update after the installation.)

We were very happy with the service from Fuse. We did a conversation from gas stove to induction, which required capping the gas line, running a 240 line to the kitchen. We ended up needing some subpanel work to make things fit. Finally they hauled away the old gas stove and installed the new induction stove. The team was very professional, organized, polite. They arrived on time, and finished on time. Highly recommend.

Update: In what I am pretty convinced was a total coincidence, shortly after the heat pump was installed our gas hot water heater stopped working. I couldn't find anything that the installer would have done to cause it since the symptom was that the gas flame would not stay on. I called Fuse to see what they had to say and within a hour two technicians came out to take a look. After a couple hours of troubleshooting they thought it might be the control board. Of note they didn't charge us for their time. The gas HWH was to be replaced by Fuse with a heat pump based HWH so it seemed silly to invest much effort. Unfortunately there wasn't one of their electricians available for a couple of weeks to install the needed sub-panel. On a follow up call to Fuse, I reminded them that we also have an EV charger in the garage that they might be able to temporarily "borrow" the circuit. The next day the team of Ronnie and Alex came out and installed the new HWH using the EV charger's circuit (having to use a public charger was a small price to pay to having hot water). Once again, a professional job with great attention to detail. Last week Zorik the electrician arrived as scheduled to complete the installation. He worked with me on where I would prefer the sub-panel be installed. Within a few hours, our EV charger was back in business. I appreciated that Zorik took the time to review what breakers were moved so that I could update my records. I was confident that the job (and the others) were all were properly compliant with the building codes. Worth noting, the technician from an independent company came out to do the duct work testing (which passed). As he was leaving the subject of Fuse came up. His comment was that they are the best in the Bay Area.
